The 2009 MTF Founder's Feast Spring Mill State Park, Indiana June 8-13 2009

You will be able to select from five 1000 mile days which will be offered Monday, June 8 - Friday, June 12 and earn a SaddleSore 5000 or you can choose to ride one or more SS1000's and earn a SS1000, SS2000, or SS3000. However, the MTF only allows one certificate per ride. As an example, if you ride three consecutive SS1000 days, we will certify a SS3000 -or- three SS1000, but NOT both. If you want 3 SS1000 certificates, you need to sign up for each one you plan on completing. All routes will be start and end at the host hotel in Bedford, Indiana each night. Riders can elect to do one or all of the rides, but must ride the specified route for the day in order to be counted as part of the MTF event. The Following Prerequisities, Guidelines and Rules will apply for the Poker Run From Hell rides:

* Note: As the sponsoring organization, the MTF requires prerequisites greater than those stipulated by the IBA.

• No Prerequisite to Participate in a Saddle Sore 1000 (SS1000)

• If you are not an IBA member, you cannot do a SS1000 on one day and then a "bigger" (i.e. SS3000) ride later in the week or consecutive days of SS1000 rides.

• To participate in the SS200, SS3000, or SS5000 you must be a current member of the IBA

• For safety reasons, the on-site MTF Witness will make a determination each day of multiday rides if they will act as the witness for each rider. If in the judgement of the witness the person does not appear capable of continuing the ride, they will not sign the person out for the day.

• The MTF will NOT combine rides and Certifications (i.e. you complete one SS2000, we will NOT also certify two SS1000s for the same miles)

• All riders will start and end at the host hotel

• All riders will ride the specified route for the day.

• All riders must check in before leaving and must be out by 6:00 am in order be counted as part of this ride

• When riders register they will declare what ride they are intending to ride. This is so we can verify the rider’s prerequisites.

• All Riders will check-in with the MTF site host upon their return or terminating the ride(see Responsibility to report).

• Any Rider exihibting unsafe practices will be disqualified. Excessive speed is considered unsafe.

• Riders & Passengers will wear a DOT approved helmet at all times while riding regardless of the local/state laws.

• All IBA Ride and documnetation requirements and rules apply. Keep in mind: The IBA requires a fuel receipt at least every 350 miles!

• To be considered a finisher, riders must turn in their ride documentation to the MTF Site host at the completion of the ride. Required documentation includes witness forms, logs and time/dated receipts for each stop, including the mandatory locations, in the specified order.

Failure to report at the begining, or at the end of the ride or in the event of termination may result in suspension from future MTF Events.

Ride Philosophy

The Motorcycle Tourer's Forum's role in these rides is simply logistics. Riders are responsible for their ride and are encouraged to ride as individuals. A quote from an LDRider will be used as the philosophy: "Everyone gets tired at different times, or gets hungry or even has to pee at different times. It's YOUR ride and it really isn't much fun when you are sitting on the side of the road waiting for your riding partner who is taking a quick nap."

• Although the trip is being organized as a "group" ride, riders are encouraged to ride individually and join with other riders at the end to celebrate. 

• Riders will be staged so as to leave in a staggered start. Riders may request to be staged with a riding partner(s). Small groups of 3 or 4 are acceptable, but riding in a pack is not considered safe and is not allowed during MTF Long Distant events.

• If you elect to start in a small group, whether you continue to ride as a group once you are on the road is up to you. If you find that your habits are not compatible with the group, simply wave off. It is nothing personal. In addition to the problems mentioned above, the group may have different attitudes about driving speeds. If you are tough enough to do a TC, you should be tough enough not to yield to the pressure of the group to conform.

• Riders can elect to do one or all of the rides, but must ride the specified route for the day in order to be counted as part of the MTF event.

  Note: The waypoints on each of the daily routes indicate the mandatory stops. It is up to the individual rider to plan the specific roads used to reach each of the mandatory stops. However, the suggested routes are probably the most efficient for most riders.
