NORTH, to ALASKA – Destination Hyder!

It’s been awhile since the MTF invaded Alaska, but 2015 is your chance with 5 - count ‘em, FIVE - IBA ways to get there!
    1. For the traditionalists, you can start in Hyder, AZ and ride the Hyder(AZ) to Hyder(AK) 2.4 – 2,400+ miles, depending on your routing, in 2.4 days.
    2. How about a Saddlesore 2K from Cheyenne, WY?
    3. Or a Saddlesore 3K from Fort Worth?
    4. Coming from the East Coast? Join us for a Saddlesore 3K from Pittsburgh.
    5. Not enough for you? Then let’s meet in JAX for a Saddlesore 4K to Hyder!

Departure dates for all rides have been chosen so riders arrive at the Sealaska Inn in Hyder, AK on Friday, May 22nd, 2015 – just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

    ATTENTION RIDERS!:

Despite the best efforts of the residents of both Hyder, AK and Stewart, BC, the Canadian government has remained firm in its position to close the border between the two towns from midnight to 8 a.m. every day, a policy implemented April 1st, 2015. For those “on the clock”, if you arrive after midnight and cannot cross the border for a receipt in Hyder, the MTF and the IBA will accept a dated business receipt in Stewart to stop the clock. We do ask that you ride as close to the border as possible, “in the spirit”!

For those with lodging in Stewart, remember that the border is closed both directions – if you arrive late enough that you could not get a receipt in Hyder and still get back across the border to your motel before closure, stop in Stewart, as noted above

    Guidelines & Rules

The MTF's Standard Long Distance Event Rules Apply to this event.

Click here to read the MTF's Standard Long Distance Events Rules :

All Standard Iron Butt Association Ride Rules apply. The only exceptions are the slight differences noted below, which are specific to this MTF event:

    1. All riders will start from the designated starting point for the rider they are participating in.
    2. The designated MTF Witness *must* sign the rider's Witness form and check them out at the starting location.
    3. All riders will check-in with the MTF Rider Coordinator in Hyder as soon as possible after their arrival, and have them sign as their end witness on the form. Details will be provided prior to the ride.
    4. All riders will wear a helmet at all times while on a motorcycle during this event.
    5. All riders must present a log with time/dated receipts from each of the mandatory locations, in the specified order, to be considered a finisher.
    6. Any rider exhibiting unsafe practices will be disqualified. Excessive speed is considered unsafe.
    7. All riders are required to check in with the MTF ride coordinator once every 24 hours unless you have provided your SPOT information as noted below. This allows us to have some clue about your location should you have any difficulties along the way. This is for your good as well as ours. Please comply with this simple request.
    8. If you use a SPOT or similar device, you will provide the link & any required password to the ride coordinator. This is simply for safety reasons, we want to be able to quickly locate you if something should happen. If you have a SPOT you don't need to check in as noted above.
