Gas up and get a receipt at the Mobil station at the corner of Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and West Point Loma Boulevard in Ocean Beach, California. It is less than 1 mile from the western end of I-8, and is very easy to find. It is a 24 hour station which produces valid gas receipts at the pump. This is only a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean, allowing you to get your sand & water samples pretty quickly.

There are 68 public parking spaces (including two disabled
spaces) at the foot of Santa Monica Avenue adjacent to the main lifeguard
station.
There are 110 public parking spaces (including three disabled spaces) at the foot of Newport Avenue, adjacent to the Ocean Beach Pier. There are 298 public parking spaces (including three disabled spaces) in the public lot at the foot of Voltaire Street. This lot is adjacent to the north end of the beach and Dog Beach. Note: Dog Beach is the closest, but you might get more than sand and water. |
Rick Brookes says the Mission Valley Motel 6 (#14 in the Motel 6 Directory) is at 2424 Hotel Circle North, which is right along I-8 at the Taylor Street exit about 2 miles from the Mobil station in Ocean Beach. There are several good restaurants near the Motel 6, including an excellent steak house within walking distance. The Motel 6 is the official hotel. Our ending witness will be at this hotel and the MTF 50/100CC banquet will be near this hotel.
