West Virginia Summer Mountain Ride
Beckley, WV
August 6-9, 2009

Game Plan:

Tour the scenic mountain roads of West Virginia

We are using Beckley/Fayetteville area as a center for a cloverleaf that allows riding into southern WV twisties and overlap of areas south and west of Elkins. The routes pass several WV state parks plus three National Park areas that offer stamps. There might even be some areas for rough riding if those strange RRR folks decide to appear.

Places to eat along the route: In between Beckley and Hico, you will find some great eateries in Fayetteville: Cathedral Café, Pies and Pints, Sedona Tapas and Cantina, Gumbo, Diogis (great Mexican) and Cowboys - these are all in Historic Fayetteville and are locally owned and operated. You will also pass quite a few chain restaurants.

In Montgomery, there is this little Mom & Pop outfit called Frank's Pizza - it's a small little place but really good and not very expensive. (304-442-5857)

Down near Kanawha Falls there is Glen Ferris Inn (304-632-1111) - there are also a couple of small locally owned places on this stretch of 60 - Anywhere you can find some great WV home cooking you can't miss!

Once you swing into Princeton you will see a great many chain restaurants - two recommended that are locally owned and operated are Sisters Coffee House (Main St) for soup and sandwiches and A Taste of Memphis BBQ (Stafford Dr 304-425-9667)

On the main road through Summersville you will see mostly chain restaurants. There is one Mexican restaurant in the strip mall.

In Richwood the only two are a small Chinese restaurant and a Dairy Queen.
