Fairbanks, AK Motorcycle Dealers / Shopts

Note: This info was put together in 2005 and hasn't been re-verified for the 2007 ride.

Thanks to Steve Matthews for providing the list of Fairbanks Motorcycle Dealers

Fairbanks Motor Sports (Honda, Victory) - talk to Dave Austin at the parts counter - 907-452-2050.  Located at 3419 South Cushman Street (one of the main drags in town, anyone can tell you how to get there).  Toll free in-state is 800-764-2050. Open on Mondays and none have a problem with you bringing in your own tires! They charge at $75.00/hour for the time taken for the change.

Alaska Fun Center (Kawasaki, Yamaha, Indian): Owner Bill Larry has been in the business forever.  He and his wife, Gaby, are hands-on owners and riders, and by the way are really great people.  We bought our Midnight Star from them - they handled the "recall" with class and we REALLY appreciate them!  Local phone is 907-452-3455; in-state toll free is 800-478-3455.  They're located at 1817 College Road (corner of College Road and Aurora Drive). Open on Mondays and none have a problem with you bringing in your own tires! $25.00 each for spoke rims, $35.00 each for cast rims.  If you bring in your own tires they charge an additional $20.00 each for balance.

Northern Power Sports (Suzuki, Yamaha, Arctic Cat) is the largest non-Harley dealer in town.  They do it all!  !  Local phone is 907-452-2762; in-state toll free is 800-478-1967.  They're at 1980 Van Horn Road (right down the street from where we work, yell if you need directions!). Open on Mondays and none have a problem with you bringing in your own tires! $35.00 per wheel including balance.

BMW Motorcycle Sales - owned by George Rahn, who's been around since about 1800 - works out of a shop attached to his house and is an INCREDIBLE mechanic.  Local phone 907-479-2367.  He's located on the left at the very end of Westwood Way off College Road.  Sorry, no street address (just the way things are in Fairbanks, a lot).

Harley-Davidson Farthest North Outpost has been around forever.  They're great folks and just built a new dealership/shop last summer.  They used to be in this tiny building on Gaffney - now they're just off Airport Road near Fred Meyer West.  They usually have everything anyone needs for fixups or add-ons to the Harleys in town.  If not, they can usually get what's needed inside of 2 days.  Local phone 907-456-3265; in-state toll free is 800-656-3265.  Their address is 1450 Karen Way - NOT named after my spouse (altho it should be!)  It's actually on an access road off Airport Way, another main drag in town. Open on Mondays and none have a problem with you bringing in your own tires! $35.00 per wheel, I forgot to ask about balancing.

D&D Custom Cycles - these guys mostly custom build and modify bikes, but have quick access to a lot of after-market products and will help anyone in need of whatever!  No toll-free, but local number is 907-456-6650.  They're at 3536 Industrial Avenue (a block behind Northern Power Sports).

Arctic Tire -  Not a bike dealer but one of the local tire shops. Has a pneumatic motorcycle tire changer and charges $20.00 per wheel static balance included.   (Seems the best bet!!!)  Phone 1-907-456-8622, Rob.  Also needs a two week notice.

These are the ones most of us need - there's a lot of other "specialists" in town!  Fairbanks is probably, per capita, one of the biggest biker towns in the US.  Anyone riding an "off band" (including Urals!) will find folks who know all about the brand.  Just ask anyone at the shops listed above - they'll probably have the phone numbers and directions as well.
