• We will issue a number to each 50CC WE and 100CCC WEW rider prior to the ride. This number will be the order in which you will be leaving the staging area. If you are a 100CCC EWE rider, you will not have a number. Report to the ride coordinator and he will work you in so that you can leave 15 minutes before the start of your second 50 hours. Riders that plan to ride with a partner, need to communicate that information to the ride coordinator so that consecutive numbers can be assigned. If you arrive in San Diego and then decide to ride with a partner you will be staged based upon the higher number.

• Note 100CCC EWE Riders. You must get a gas receipt at the start of the second leg at the same station in which you got your ending receipt for the first leg . This serves as your ending and starting time stamps. Note: this is not an IBA requirement but a requirement for our ride.

• We will start releasing riders at 7:45 EST (4:45 PST) from Johnny's Shell Service, 4794 Voltaire Street. When you arrive at the Shell station, park your bike in such a manner that will allow you access to the pumps when your number is called.

• Riders will be released as pumps become available. We do not want riders riding in a pack for safety reasons. The differential in fill up times at the start will allow for a stagger of riders. There should be no problem in getting all riders out by 8:30 EST (5:30 PST) and release the witnesses by that time. If you arrive at the staging area after 8:30 EST (5:30 PST), you will not be counted as part of the ride if you are a 50CC WE or 100CCC WEW rider.  If you are a 100CCC EWE rider and plan on sleeping in past 8:30 EST (5:30 PST) you need to notify Bill Murphy, Ride Coordinator in advance. We want to know that you made it ok. Further if you arrive after 8:30 EST (5:30 PST), you will have to arrange for your own midpoint witness.

• Have your witness form filled out and your odometer reading recorded. The witness should simply have to fill in the time, their personal information, and sign the form.    

• When you are ready to go, advise one of the witnesses. They will validate your odometer reading and license plate number; and add the time and their personal information to the witness form.

• Once your witness form is signed. Notify the ride coordinator and they will direct you with regard to staging for release. 

• When you are released from the staging area, you are expected to go directly pump. Plan accordingly. Eat breakfast before staging; get your sand and water the before staging if you do not want it to be a part of the ride; etc. 

• Gas up and get a receipt at the Shell Station at 4794 Voltaire Street, San Diego, CA 92107, 619-224-1900. This station is staffed 24 hours and has 8 pumps and a large lot.  

• If you have not collected your sand and water: from the Shell Station, go west .4 miles on Voltaire and then about .4 miles south on Abbott to the Ocean Beach Public Access to collect your sand and water.  You may want to go to the beach in pairs and take photos of each other. You will be glad you did.                         

• Your off to Jacksonville. Ride safe, don't push your limits, and most of all enjoy your ride. From the beach access, you can take Newport to Sunset Cliffs Boulevard and then hit I-8 (about .4 mile northeast of the station where your got your receipt). Keep the water on the right all the way to Jacksonville.

• Exit I-8 and head to the Ocean Beach Public Access to gather your sand and water if you want to do this as part of your ride.
      
• Get your receipt from the Shell Station at 4794 Voltaire Street, San Diego, CA 92107, 619-224-1900. 
          
• You can stop the panic. Your official time has been recorded on your receipt.
       
• A witness will be available at Johnny's Shell Service, 4794 Voltaire Street from 7:00a.m. EST (4:00 a.m. PST) and 8:00 a.m. (5:00 a.m. PST), April 21, 2004 for those that are ending their 50CC East to West and for those needing a midpoint witness for their 100CCC from East to West to East. Note: If you get in before 8:00 a.m. EST (5:00 a.m. PST) you have the option of finding your own witness (there is often a police officer patrolling at the beach) and have them sign your witness form or going to bed and getting your witness form signed some time before 8:00 a.m. EST (5:00 a.m. PST). Note: Your stamped receipt is the end of your ride. We have discussed our witness procedure with the IBA; waiting until our witnesses are available will not affect certification of your ride. 
      
• A witness will be available at the Red Lobster, 3780 Sports Arena Boulevard 2:30 p.m. EST (11:30 a.m. PST), April 25, 2004 for those that are ending their 100CCC West to East to West. Note: You have the option of finding your own witness (there is often a police officer patrolling at the beach) and have them sign your witness form or going to bed and getting your witness form signed some time before 3:00 p.m. EST (12:00 noon PST). Note: Your stamped receipt is the end of your ride. We have discussed our witness procedure with the IBA; waiting until our witnesses are available will not affect certification of your ride. 
  
• Congratulations on a great ride. If you are finishing the 50CC East to West or the 100CCC West to East to West, you definitely deserve to celebrate. If you are at the midpoint of the 100CCC East to West to East, be sure to get plenty of rest. Remember there is no incentive to leave before the first 50 hours is complete as you cannot use time from the first leg for the second leg.
