Greetings Riders,
The Poker Run From Hell is celebrating the 4th year as a movable week long celebration of Motorcycling. We've logged miles in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee and around the Great Lakes including Canada. This year we explore the roads in and around Pennsylvania.
The Poker Run from Hell's main focus is the Poker Run. Like many a poker run, each leg ends with the drawing of a card for a poker hand. The difference is that each leg is1,000 miles a day. This provides the long distance enthusiast the opportunity to achieve a certificate for either a SS1000, SS2000, SS3000 or SS5000. In addition, this year we are offering an in-state PA1000.
For the more relaxed rider, or Flower Sniffin' as we call it, Pennsylvania has a multitude of locations that offer scenic rides to pique the interest. Within a days roundtrip you can visit the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, Amish Country, the HD Plant in York, or the Flight 93 Memorial site. There will be brochures with suggested scenic roads and locations available along with the links on our website to tempt you into Sniffin' all day.
For the Adventure rider, located a few miles from our hotel is Paragon Park. This outdoor park is a challenge to anyone wanting to tempt their skills on 2 wheels. Take a trail from the mild to the "what was I thinking" and ride all day without crossing the same trail twice. There are convenient bail out roads for when you feel you've had enough.
This year's base camp will be the Comfort Inn in Hazelton, which is near the intersection of Interstate's 80 and 81. Convenient for the long distance rides, yet located far enough away from everything to be considered country. The banquet is being held at the Top of the 80's Restaurant offering scenic views for miles.
As the host for this event, I will be available for witness on any IBA Certificate rides as well as taking my turn one day at Paragon Park. For the remainder of the days, I will be Flower Sniffin' and offering any advice I can on best routes, food and locations of scenic fall colors or historical interest.
Come for the week or come for a day, but saddle up and get some miles in as we celebrate another great year of riding with the Motorcycle Tourer's Forum.
