The MTF sponsored the Regional Saddle Sore 1000 (SS1K) rides again this year on 4 different days with a total of 38 different locations. 382 riders completed a SaddleSore 1000, many first time LD riders. Numerous MTF volunteers put in countless hours to make these events possible.
All Site Coordinators did an outstanding job getting their rides setup and hosting the riders at the start and finish. There were over 60 volunteers who helped in some manner to put these rides on, we couldn't have done it without them. I encourage you to check out the 2007 Regional SS1000 Webpages for the names of all the volunteers. We owe a big thank you to all them for donating their time and efforts to make these events possible. The only "payment" they receive is the smiling faces at the end of the ride and our thanks. So next time you see one of them, make sure you tell them "Thanks!"

In addition to the SS1K rides, we also hosted three rides inconjuction with HyderSeek; the Hyder to Hyder (H2H), Border to Border to Border from Hell (B2B2BFH) and the Ultimate Coast to Coast (UCC). Eight riders completing the H2H, four completed the B2B2BFH and nine completed either the UCC/UCCC. Two riders also completed a SS1K Alaska Gold. Like the regional SS1K rides, several volunteers made these events possible and we owe then all a big thank you!
This years LD rides have put the MTF over the two million miles mark with 2,108,976 miles ridden in MTF sponsored IBA rides. Dave Hicks leads the LD pack having riden 46,075 miles just in MTF sponsored Long Distance events.
The top MTF LD riders are list on The Hink's MTF Long Distance Riding Award webpage.
The Hink's MTF Long Distance Riding Award is an award that is earned by accumulating 25,000 miles in MTF Sponsored Long Distance Events. The Award was named after Dave Hink's in honor of his participation in all of the MTF Long Distance Riding Events to date During this years events, Kevin Healey and Kevin Lechner have earned the award which will be presented at the 2007 Founders Feast along with any other riders achieving the 25,000 mile level during the remaining long distance event.
We still have one long distance ride left, the
50CC Gold or SS3K. In order to allow riders to rack up some certified miles without taking on the 50CC Gold we added a SS3000 to the remaining long distance event. Both rides start in New York City on September 12the and end in San Francisco, CA on September 16th. Hopefully it will be as fun and successful as all the others!
