How would you like to be a part of a recording breaking ride?
The MTF hopes to regain their 50cc record with the most riders in March 2008 in conjunction with the IBA party during Bike Week. The
MTF will also offer a 100ccc ride and other ride options (SS1000, BB1500 and SS2000) for those interested in attending the IBA party.
Go ahead and knock out any prerequisites that may be required, so you can join in on the fun. Check with the MTF Ride-In web page for all of the details.

Sunrise to Sunset – July 14th to July 18th
The Sunrise to Sunset is a brand new IBA certified ride that takes you
from the eastern-most point to the western-most point of the lower 48
states in three days or less. Riders start in the sleepy resort town
of East Port, Maine and travel about 3500 miles to LaPush, Washington in
the Quileute Indian Reservation (Olympic National Park) without taking
a shortcut through Canada. Your route will take you through a
beautiful variety of riding areas, as well as a couple of major cities
to add to the challenge of small towns and twisty roads at each end of
the ride.
Since this is an advanced ride, the prerequisites detailed on our web
site are required. This ride will definitely challenge the intermediate
and advanced long distance riders. It could be your big step up from a
BBG or SS-2000 in to longer multi-day IBA rides.
One of the highlights of this trip will be the planned witnesses! Only
two riders have completed this ride before us, Bill Watts and Bob St.
George. They both plan to honor us (as well as us honor their
accomplishment) by having one of them witness at each end of the ride!
Here's your chance to get into the IBA record book at the very beginning
of the list for what we think will prove to be one of the more
challenging IBA rides.
Some of the ride details are not yet finalized, so be sure to check the
Sunrise to Sunset web page
for the latest information..
Border to Border - August 29th to September 1st
|
What are you doing on Labor Day weekend 2008? The MTF will be hosting a long distance ride that will cover 3 countries and 7 states and officially named the “2008 MTF Border to Border ride”.
Starting from the border town of Laredo, Texas, the rider will cross into Mexico via the #2 International Bridge, spend ~ 10 minutes getting through US customs, grab the toll receipt from said customs agent (official start time) and away you go! Blasting northward through the wilds of Texas, Indian country of Oklahoma then through the corn-filled plains of Kansas, you too, can experience what the drovers of the early 19th century experienced as they pushed cattle to market. Ride the plains of Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and into North Dakota with the smell of open farm land and well-plowed earth tickling your wanderlust. Finally, cross the border at Emerson, Manitoba, ride a scant 50 yards to the Duty-Free Store to get a receipt, then smile widely for the camera as you feel the sense of accomplishment and genuine satisfaction.
All the above can be experienced by riding the 1650 miles in either 24 hours or 36 hours. The weekend time frame is set (8/29-9/1) and details will be forthcoming in the near future. As you begin to think about what this ride entails for you, allow me to provide some color commentary; be prepared for rain, heat, cold and critters!
